Ingredients
500g Diced Dartmoor Farmer beef, shin, chuck or skirt
1 420g tin of butter beans
1 Pepper
1 Small Onion
1 Packet of tomato passata (thick tomato juice)
2 tbsp of flour (any type)
500ml (1pt) Cider
Oil to fry
Method
De-seed and slice the pepper.
Slice the onions.
Cut the beef into cubes, if not already diced.
Put the oil in a frying pan or the casserole dish if it can go on the hob.
Fry the pepper and onion until soft and not coloured.
When done, remove from the pan, and brown the meat.
When browned, stir in the flour.
Stir in half the packet of tomato passata and the cider.
Put the pepper and onion back in and add the drained butter beans.
Leave on the hob on a low heat for 3 hours, or put in the oven on a low heat (160’c) for 3 hours or put in a slow cooker and leave all day. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve with anything you wish – mash, rice, pasta, roast potatoes and veg.
